State Capital Group member firms work with new and emerging companies around the world to secure tax incentives, comply with zoning rules, obtain permits and overcome regulatory hurdles. Membership
Membership is strictly by invitation. Firms are invited to join only after demonstrating the highest quality service, industry leadership and the clear value their membership would bring to the network. Candidacy is informed by recommendations from members, clients and colleagues; professional memberships, writing and teaching experience; and community service, honors and rankings.

History
In 1989, 17 former state governors and their law firms founded State Capital Group. These former governors included members of both major political parties in the United States. State Capital Group remains unaffiliated with any one political organization. Today, many of these governors remain actively involved in the State Capital Group, while others have returned to public service. State Capital Group's Advisory Board of Former Governors includes:
